Maeklong Market
I just learned about the Maeklong Market on Reddit.  Wow!
No commentsPopulation Reversal?
The thought popped into my head… I’m wondering if the population decline of places like Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo could be reversed one day over the need for clean water.

Breaking out this classic for a midday pickup. Enjoy.

For months these guys have been whispering to be scanned and hauled into work to join the others on my cubical wall. Wish granted. The first one was picked up from the Strasburg Antique Mall and the remaining are from the Crescent Hill Trading Company.

I can honest admit to letting out an audible yelp during the discovery of this last picture. I’m sure you’d do the same if you’re familiar with the
“That’s some bad hat Harry” line from Jaws and at the end of House.

Try the Pontiac Silverdome.
The arena was built in 1975 for $55.7 million but was costing cash strapped Pontiac about 1.5 million a year to maintain so it was time to go. The videos on the auction’s website show a mothballed facility that is in good shape and virtually turnkey… 127.5 acres, 462,000 sq ft, 46 concession areas, 56 restrooms, 15,000 sq ft restaurant, two banquet facilities, 97 suites, 12,774 parking spaces, 3 out buildings, broadcast equipment, Diamond Vision, offices, lockerooms, maintenance facility and more.
Simply amazing! It reminds me of when Geauga Lake closed in Fall 2007 and the current demolition of Columbus City Center. Reuse anyone?

I cracked open the Fall issue of Good to find some very wise words from Umair Haque. I find them impossible to fault.
No commentsQuirky Technology
My bedroom TV is a behemoth from 1987 that while it can do cable, it can’t tune in every channel. A few months ago I decided it would be nice to have Comedy Central available so I added an old VCR. While it did the trick for Comedy Central, the VCR is stuck on Second Audio Programming (SAP) and the universal remote I’m using doesn’t have the ability to adjust. This makes for some interesting TV time. So far I’ve caught Family Guy in Spanish and just this morning a few minutes of a Austin Powers with Descriptive Video Service (DVS) which narrates visual actions for the blind.  Frau fires her gun at Austin. Austin drops his gun and runs away.
